- Scope & content
- File consists of one albumen photograph of G Company, Queen's Own Rangers, created by J. Bruce in November 1879. The soldiers, each of whom is identified on the photograph, are set into a painted landscape of the area around Fort York, including Stanley Barracks and the rifle range. The landscape is similar to the scene painted by F. M. Bell-Smith for J. Bruce in 1880. According to notes by Larry Becker on the back of the frame, this company was composed entirely of law students at Osgoode Hall, September 1877. The company was originally formed as the Civil Service Company from civil servants at Toronto on March 14, 1862.
