Ce portrait de trois-quarts présente François de Montmorency-Laval (1623-1708). Premier évêque de Québec, il est le fondateur du Séminaire de Québec. Il est gouverneur général de la Nouvelle-France à titre provisoire, à deux reprises, en 1663 et 1682. Le document est en anglais. La pièce porte la cote 42229. Ce document ne fait pas l'objet d'une description dans l'Essai de bibliographie canadienne de Philéas Gagnon.
