- Scope & content
- Item consists of page 28 of the Boyd photograph album. There are nine photographs on the page, which are captioned as follows: 12007 - Resting after a strenuous spell of field manoeuvres. Oat rations would be in order; 12008a, 12008b - Panoramic view of the camp of the 7th Field Battery at Barriefield. The site is excellent for military purposes, being high, level, and well drained; 12009a, 12009b - The model camp of the Barriefield plains. It formed the temporary home of the 38th Battalion. Flower beds, white stone mottoes and crests embellish its lines; 12010 - Mark 2 rifles being turned in to the Camp Armourer, later models being issued; 12011, 12012 - Drilling in "straw breakfasts" and without tunics makes the work a lot easier. The officers of the 38th Battalion find it pays to study the men's comfort; 12013 - Individual wash basins add to the sanitary conditions in a military camp.
