What the image shows
A hand-coloured engraving-style illustration in a small room with a wooden wall and a plank box, showing a seated man in a tricorn-style hat and blue apron painting at an easel while a second man in a cap and red coat leans over a chest beside a small child in a bonnet. A wicker basket, a palette and a few loose objects lie on the floor. The image sits at the top of a printed page, with a caption reading "Le Pauvre Peintre, par André Both" beneath it, followed by a block of French text in italic script and a footnote about the Both brothers.Described automatically by a vision model; may contain mistakes.

Text in the image
1836)Read automatically; may contain mistakes.
