Scope & content
File consists of 57 photographs showing existing conditions along The Queensway, between Mimico Creek and Royal York Road, prior to widening. Many intersections along the route are documented. These consist of: High Road, Stephen Drive, Smithfield Drive, Aldgate Avenue, Park Lawn Road, Burma Drive, Inverleigh Avenue, Winslow Street, Wesley Street and Holbrooke Avenue. Included are photographs of a stretch of small bungalows, on the north side, #250-286, between Aldgate Avenue and Park Lawn Road. Among the north side businesses appearing in the photographs are: a Regent service station; a Reliable service station; a B/A service station; the Holophane Co. Ltd, #150; Williamson's Drugs, #160; Swift's Hardware, #166; a Bank of Nova Scotia branch, #168; Food Fair Coffee Shop, #170; an Imperial Bank of Canada branch, #172; Hollywood Taxi, #700; Westwood Cleaners, #706; Morris Variety Store, #708; and Long Branch Tile and Linoleum, #710. South side businesses include: the Ontario Food Terminal; Ledson's Interiors, #653; Armstrong Heating, #655; Friendly Gift & Smoke Shop, #657; Gerhard's Beauty salon, #659; and the Hollywood Tavern, #689.
