Scope & content
File consists of colour slides documenting major streets, storefronts, and prominent buildings in central Toronto, including the Provincial Parliament Buildings, City Hall(1899-1965), City Hall (1965- ), Royal York Hotel, Barclay Hotel, the Shaw and Baggs Insurance building on Toronto Street, Bank of Montreal (Yonge and Front streets), Casa Loma, Holy Trinity Church, the Son's of England building, the Court Street Police Station, the Manning Arcade, the National Grocers Building at Front and Scott streets, the Harrison Baths, the Land Titles Office, O'Keefe Centre, the Tivoli Theatre, the Sun Life Building, Massey HalL, Ryerson Polytechnical Institute, the Telegram Building, St. Charles Restaurant and Tavern, the Osler Building at Melinda and Jorden streets, and the Coughlan Building at King Street West and Yonge. The streetscapes show corners, buildings and stores along Yonge Street, Adelaide Street, Richmond Street, Shuter Street, Berekely Street, and the area around Gerrard and Hayter streets that was known as Greenwich Village. Skyline views, aerial views, and photographs of the 1945 VE parade are also included in this file.
