- Scope & content
- Series consists of photographs documenting the Northern Railway of Canada's properties, from Toronto's waterfront to the town of Collingwood on Georgian Bay. They were possibly commissioned by Sir Sandford Fleming during his tenure as engineer-in-chief of the Northern Railway, as his name is stamped on the verso of many of the prints. The photographs show the freight wharf, the machine shop and locomotive works, and the passenger depot in Toronto; the station and freight house in Barrie; the Bell Ewart Station on Lake Simcoe; and the passenger station in Collingwood. They also document steam engines, rolling stock, and the railway bridges over the Pine River, Clubine's Brook, Thompson Creek, and the Mad River.
