Ce plan présente les quartiers de la ville de Montréal et les municipalités environnantes, leurs limites étant illustrées par les couleurs employées. Il couvre le secteur situé entre le fleuve Saint-Laurent au sud, la municipalité de Verdun à l'ouest, la municipalité d'Outremont et le quartier Saint-Denis au nord, le quartier Hochelaga et l'annexe du quartier Sainte-Marie à l'est. Le plan comporte le tracé des lignes de tramway et est divisé en carrés chiffrés et lettrés. Un index des rues existe à la base du document et renvoie à ces carrés.
