Scope & content
The front of this postcard shows a portrait picture of S. Frug, who is wearing a suit, and tie, he also has a beard, and mustache. On the back is a stamp from the Austrian-Hungarian Empire with a portrait of Kaiser Franz Joseph, worth 5 Heller. Shimon Shmuel Frug (1860–1916) was a Russian poet and the first poet to treat Jewish themes in Russian verse. Narrative: This postcard was written by Bernhard Kissman (Donor's father) to his fiancee Fritzi Winter (Donor's mother) who lived at that time with her parents in Tescheutz, Bukowina. They got married in July 1913. Bernhard Kissman worked at various places in forestry. Postcards between them were written daily, often a letter followed.
