The website of Queen's University Archives is down (for about 7 hours)
Its images and links won't load until it's back. Panarchive shows each image straight from the archive's own website, so when that site is down the picture can't be shown here. Nothing is lost: everything returns once the archive is back up, and we check every few minutes.

- Scope & content
- Letter: transmitting copy of treaty dated April 26, 1825, and treaty dated October 31, 1923. States that no specific reservation of hunting rights was given in treaty and that Chippewa and Mississauga Indians later claimed that even if these rights were not set out, the right to hunt for food was inherent in all these conveyances. States that the Chippewa Indians have given up their right to hunt for food by accepting compensation under the Williams Treaty. Advises that the tolerance shown to Indians hunting during the closed season has been a matter of grace rather than a legal right.
