The website of Queen's University Archives is down (for about 4 hours)

Its images and links won't load until it's back. Panarchive shows each image straight from the archive's own website, so when that site is down the picture can't be shown here. Nothing is lost: everything returns once the archive is back up, and we check every few minutes.

Scope & content
Letter: refers to the fishing and hunting rights of Indians under the Robinson-Huron Treaty and the Williams Treaties. States that these treaties take in the lands between the French and Mattawa Rivers and includes the Ottawa Valley between the Twp. of Nepean and the mouth of the Mattawa River. States that the Indians who were considered to have hunting and fishing rights lived on reserves outside of the area described in the Robinson- Huron Treaty. Argues that the Golden Lake Band, who were resident in the area. should have had their claims considered at that time. States that the Golden Lake Band never lived in Ontario prior to the establishment of their reserve at Golden Lake, but says that their occupation of hunting lands in Ontario can be traced back to the time of Louis XIV and that just because the Jesuit Society secured a grant for them on the north side of the Ottawa River instead of the south. it is not fair to consider them to be Quebec Indians. Recommends re-opening the case of the Golden Lake Band's almost total exclusion from benefits of registered trapline program.
