- Letter: regarding his of Oct 25 concerning hunting matters pertaining to Golden Lake Indians and indicating agreement that little more can be done following letter of D.M. of Game and Fisheries for Ontario Gov't. Further stating that D.M. of Ont. Dept. of Game and Fisheries was misleading in giving information about treaties signed in 1923 (Williams Treaties), that Golden Lake Indians not beneficiaries of these or any other treaties, nor did these treaties affect them in any way. Stating that plea on their behalf is based upon humanitarian consideration, and not on treaty rights, and that it "fmds ethical support in the fact that their reserve at Golden Lake was purchased for them from the Government of Ontario, especially because it was located in a good hunting area. As you are well aware, their land is not suited to agriculture, and with the severe hunting restrictions now in force, it is difficult for them to make a livelihood." Further stating that these points have been raised and discussed with Ont Gov't before.
