- Scope & content
- Letter: regarding conversation between Mr. Bonnycastle and the Deputy Minister of Game and Fisheries for Ontario. Advises of the Hudson's Bay Company's opinion of the desirability of Ontario setting aside hunting and trapping privileges in the northern part of the province for the exclusive use of Indians and 'half-breeds'. States that Ontario would be willing to make this arrangement with the Department of Indian Affairs if DIA would be willing to make an arrangement with regard to the Indians living south of the transcontinental line as the province is anxious to develop the tourist trade here and would like to get hold of some of the Indian reserves for this purpose. States that the game in the southern section is very valuable to the Province from a tourist point of view.
