- Scope & content
- Letter: re his of the 13th advising that the Golden Lake Indians were hiring white men to haul their deer home for them. States that there is no objection to this if the deer were killed in the open season. however, as the season is now closed they have no legal right to kill deer off their reserves. Advises that although the officers have been instructed to use some leniency towards the Indians this winter because of the ruined fur trade owing to the war, they are not allowed to kill deer indiscriminately.
