- Scope & content
- Petition: state that they, together with the Nipissings, possessed the valley of the Ottawa from time immemorial. Complain that the whites who work the timber and have settled on these lands are also trapping the few animals left. Request an act be passed to protect them against white trappers on their hunting grounds and they be granted the right to hunt and trap animals, that they may require for their own inunediate use, at any season of the year. Note Michel Pesantawatch and Mackwa and 22 others identify themselves as Algonquins in this petition.
