- Letter: enclosing petition for the survey and opening for settlement of the Township of Maniwaki. States that the reservation of that township for the settlement by Indians is a great obstacle to the colonization of the country as it is the best land around for agriculture. States that the Bishop of Bytown overestimated thenumber of Indians in the valley who would be willing to locate there, there are fewer than expected.
