- Report: advises that the Tetes de Boules are another branch of the Algonquins and inhavit the bank and tributaries of the St. Maurice and divide the Ottawa from the Saguenay Indians. States that longstanding claims of the Algonquins and Nipissings of the Lake of the Two Mountains have been negated by former Governments and have only been considered for limited grants of land. State that they have applied through the Bishop of Bytown for a tract of land containing 100,000 acres at the head of Lake Temiskaming and also for a township at Gatineau, containing 60,000 acres bounded by the River Gatineau and the River Desert. Advises that the issue of investigation re sharing annuities to surrendered hunting grounds with the Mississaugas, although recommended by the Indian Commission does not appear to have been attended to. States that in Upper Canada the government has been scrupulous in paying for every inch of soil taken from the Indians but in Lower Canada the government has been "totally regardless of all Indian claims".
