- Scope & content
- Extract of Council: the two Tribes state that they are awaiting the results of the investigation into the Mississaugas' sale of Algonquin and Nipissing lands that was promised by the Governor General. Advises Hughes that they wish compensation for the hunting grounds that have been ruined by encroachment of white settlers and that they are reconciled that they must also become tillers of the soil. They request assistance to do so at Isle aux Allumette with the hope that the government will help them as they did the Ottawa Tribe at Manitoulin Island.
