The website of Queen's University Archives is down (for about 5 hours)

Its images and links won't load until it's back. Panarchive shows each image straight from the archive's own website, so when that site is down the picture can't be shown here. Nothing is lost: everything returns once the archive is back up, and we check every few minutes.

Scope & content
Letter: transmitting copy of the petition of the Algonquin and Nipissing Chiefs to Sir J. Colbome on June 6, 1835, which the petitioners request be submitted to the Governor General. Refers to the two petitions from these Tribes which accompanied his letter of Feb. 8, 1837, and were alluded to in Napier's letters of Feb. 22 and Aug. 8, 1837. Presents the case of the Algonquins and Nipissings as requested by Francois Ka-on-ti-no-Ketch, Grand Chief of the Nipissing Tribe. Relates events of visits to Toronto by the deputation (of the two Tribes), once in July 1835 and again in August 1836. Refers to their petitions dated June 6, 1835, Feb. 8, 1837, and Feb. 3, 1837, and advises that they request that the government eject squatters from Isle aux Allumettes so that they may settle there and be closer to the not yet ruined hunting grounds.
