Scope & content
Transcript of Gen. Darling's address and Indian Chiefs' replies: Darling acknowledges that the Iroquois and Abenti.quois are the chief offenders of violating territories. Instructs the tribes to confme themselves to the lands which have long been assigned to each. Addressing specifically the Indians of the Lake of Two Mountains, Darling states that they will not starve if they follow the example of the white man. Tells them he will grant a small portion of land for agriculture but he cannot grant any tract for the purpose of keeping in a wild state for hunting grounds.
