- Scope & content
- Internal staff document from the YMHA regarding the winding down of activities for the Y-sponsored New Canadians Club, ca. January-February 1949.The New Canadians Club was organized in 1947-48 for recent young adult refugees from war-torn Europe, who were Holocaust survivors. By the end of 1948, activity seems to slow within the club. The staff memo points to some of the feelings of separateness experienced by the members of the club, who were fiercely independent and did not feel entirely welcome within the confines of the YMHA and other highly-centralized Jewish communal organizations.
