What the image shows
A typed letter on plain white paper, set out in the usual business-letter layout with a dateline, salutation, body paragraphs and a signature block. It is a letter of introduction addressed to a single recipient at the foot of the page, and it is a typed transcription copy rather than handwriting. A faint stamp in the bottom right corner reads Archives de la Ville de Montréal.Described automatically by a vision model; may contain mistakes.

F. Hincks & L. H. Lafontaine.Toronto 28 May 1839Dear Sir,I am Dear Sir respectfully yrF. HincksL.H. Lafontaine Esq.Toronto 26 May 1839Permit me to introduce to you Mr Woodruff, Esq., formerly a member of our House of Assembly for one of the ridings of the Niagara District, and likely to be so again.Mr. W. will be able to give you some interesting information on the state of parties here. I received your letter under cover to Mr. Small who has gone to England to do all in his power for the good cause. I trust you have ere this received my two letters sent by patriots hand about a week since. I dont like trusting the post office with political letters altho' in this province they are I believe honest. I send my letters by Mr. Christie of this place.Read automatically; may contain mistakes.
