This is an engraved plate, pasted onto a yellow mount, showing several canoe types and a scene of paddlers on water. At the top, a bark canoe with a row of paddlers is shown above a small canoe being carried on a portage, with two smaller scenes of canoes passing rapids below. Lower down, a larger canoe carries a line of paddlers, and beneath it an elongated bark canoe with ribs and a paddle are drawn in outline. Handwritten ink on the mount below the plate reads "Extrait de La Hontan - Voyages ...
