What the image shows
A sepia-toned reproduction of an engraved portrait of a man in an 18th-century style, shown three-quarter length and turned slightly to the left. He wears a powdered wig, a richly embroidered coat with ornate braided trim and a lace-cuffed sleeve, and rests one hand on a dark object at the lower left against a cloudy sky.
