- Scope & content
- Series consists of plans of Toronto theatres. Plans document the layout of the theatres, including measurements of aisles, and the locations of entrances and exits. Most plans also show the locations of the operator's box, ticket booth, and sometimes note the building materials used in construction. The majority of the plans are dated 1914, and annotations were made for those theatres that were closed in February 1918.These plans were likely created for by-law no. 6401 which passed April 1, 1913 and was titled "Safety of Buildings". For other plans that were also created because of this by-law please refer to Series 2347 to find other public buildings, such as churches, that were done at the same time as the theatres.
