Scope & content
Fonds consists of forty photographs by photographer Ethan Eisenberg documenting Toronto events created on assignment for NOW Magazine's Newsfront page between 2007 and 2017. Beginning in the early 1980s, the free weekly Now Magazine was one of the few sources of work about Toronto by local photographers. Most notably, the stand-alone photograph featured on page three was a rare example of an image presented independently of a written story within a Canadian mass-media publication. This series contains almost a decade of photographs featured in NOW magazine capturing the overlooked aspects of Toronto’s social and cultural life. Photographs include events across Toronto of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, Pride Parade, CNE, Caribana, G20 summit demonstration, NXNE music festival, local bike rides, and various celebrations.
