Scope & content
Fonds consists of three series of photographs created by Ben Mark Holzberg. The first series consists of cibachrome transparencies that were displayed in the "Rolling Landscape" photography exhibition, which took place in a Toronto Subway car in 1978. The second series consists of 35mm transparencies taken by Ben Mark Holzberg in 1979, as well as the colour prints that he produced from the transparencies. They document the interiors of TTC subway stations. The third series consists of photographs showing Grenadier Pond and adjacent locations in High Park. These photographs were born digital, and some have also been printed as hard copies. The photographs were taken during different seasons and show subjects such as people ice skating on the pond during the winter, flowering cherry trees in the spring, great blue herons and other wildlife enjoying the pond during the summer, and beautiful trees in full fall colours during the autumn. Most of the images focus on the natural world of water, wetlands, trees, and birds. However, there are some images showing the crowds who descend on the park every year to take pictures of the cherry blossoms, and other views of people enjoying the park.
