Scope & content
Series consists of 4,337 photographs created by the Public Information Office within the Staff Services Division of Toronto Fire Services between 1998 and 2013. The Public Information Office was responsible for promoting Fire Services through the media to members of the public, responding to emergencies where public information or photo and video services were required, and coordinating special events and ceremonies including the annual Fallen Firefighter Memorial Service and the Rescue Merit Awards. Photographs in this series were predominantly taken by Captain Karen Reid, photographer for Toronto Fire Services, who documented the events and activities of Toronto Fire Services for the Public Information Office. Series also contains 292 digital scans of portrait photographs used for Marla Friebe's book A History of the Toronto Fire Services 1874-2002, published by Toronto Fire Services in 2003.
