Scope & content
Series consists of photographs created, accumulated and used by the Toronto Historical Board (THB) as documentary evidence of the City's inventory of historical buildings. This documentation covers Toronto buildings listed under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Registry. There are also photographs of some buildings which were not part of the Heritage Registry. It may be that staff of the THB believed these buildings had the potential to be added to the registry at a later date.There are also photographs of buildings, identified by address or by building name, which were not designated as having historical value at the time the photos were taken. Some of these buildings are still standing (as of 2018), while others have been demolished.Series also contains sets of photographs which are identified as surveys of specific areas and of main thoroughfares. These photographs offer contextual documentation for individual buildings within their streetscapes.
