Scope & content
Subseries consists of details and progress views of the reconstruction of the Crawford Street bridge, which spanned a ravine in the north west corner of Trinity Bellwoods Park just south of Dundas St. W. The new bridge, with its three concrete arches and ornate balustrade, replaced an older wooden bridge at the same location. The bridge was buried in the 1960s using fill created by the construction of the Bloor-Danforth subway line.Photographs in this subseries, which are arranged chronologically, document the process of construction from its beginning in August 1914 to the paving of the bridge in February 1919. There is an emphasis on detail views of the construction (e.g., deck beam reinforcement, steel arch junctions, handrail post forms, and twisted wire form holders), although more general views are also included.
