Scope & content
File consists of a handwritten letter received by Miss Ida Beam from Miss Mary Agnes Snively, Lady Superintendent of the Toronto General Hospital Training School for Nurses. The letter, dated August 17th, 1895 and written during the first year of Miss Snively's appointment as Lady Superintendent at the hospital, confirms Ida Beam's acceptance into the Training School for Nurses. Ida Beam would later graduate from the school in 1897.A transcription of the letter follows: My dear Miss Beam, I am happy 2 write you regarding the acceptance of your application. I would like 2- place your name on the Emergency List – See printed Slip – as that will probably ensure an earlier entrance than could now be possible on the regular list. Please make the moving preparations as soon as possible and let me know how soon you can be ready for a case should you be required. Positively, M.A. Snively, Supt.
