Scope & content
Series consists of drawings showing construction of the subway along Yonge Street, focusing on the workers in context with their jobs, tools, and the structure of the tunnel taking shape around them. Eleven drawings were done in watercolour and were highlighted with charcoal. The remainder were done only in charcoal. These works were exhibited in 1950 in the lobby of the Towne Cinema at Bloor and Yonge streets, and several pieces were selected for display in 1979 at the Eaton Centre in an exhibit produced by the Toronto Transit Commission to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the subway line.
