- Scope & content
- Fonds consists of a photograph album titled "Toronto Fire, April 19, 1904" and two copy negatives. The photograph album contains seventeen photographs produced by W.J. Whittingham. Sixteen of the photographs document the aftermath of the Great Toronto Fire of 1904. They show the devastation along Bay and Front streets as well as providing bird's-eye views of the destruction from the top of the Telegram building at the corner of Bay and Melinda streets. There is one photograph in the album unrelated to the fire: an unidentified group portrait titled "The Bunch, 1902." This studio portrait is probably of Whittingham's fellow employees at the Toronto Engraving Company. The two copy negatives provide a view of three men working in the Peake and Whittingham studio as well as a portrait of W.J. Whittingham.
