What the image shows
This is an antique printed topographical map, sepia-toned on aged paper, showing the city of Montreal and its surroundings with the Saint Lawrence River running across the lower part of the sheet. The town's dense street grid is drawn on the right, with hills and contour rings in the upper right, and a river channel, islands and a long diagonal waterway crossing the left side. A decorative title cartouche in the upper right reads 'A Topographical Map of the City of Montreal & Vicinity' with 'New City Water Works' printed beneath, and a small ornamental compass rose and scale bar appear at the bottom.Described automatically by a vision model; may contain mistakes.
