ARTHUR ROSKIESMONTREAL 26, QUE.October 18, 1962North End WilkomirerHebrew Sick Benefit Society1965 St. GermainSt. LaurentAttention: Mr. Fred FisherDear Mr. Fisher:Yours very truly,AR/eeI am writing to solicit your Society's contribution to the 1962 Combined Jewish Appeal, as you suggested in our telephone conversation by you.Last year, the Joint Campaign raised $ 3,570,218. This year our goal is $ 4,125,000, or an increase of approximately 20%. This is due mainly to large-scale immigration from Morocco and Algeria. Our campaign helps the Government of Israel to settle these new refugees and to absorb them in the economy. I am enclosing a pamphlet for your information giving more details on the above, and also outlining the local needs of the campaign. It may seem as repetitious to you as it does to me, but the fact is that the need is indeed greater than ever. We desperately need more money than ever. May I therefore ask your Society to make every effort to increase your valued contribution of last year? We campaign workers would be most grateful for any extra consideration, and so would the thousands of people who have helped by it.Thank you in advance for your efforts in our behalf. Please be good enough to send your cheque, made out to "Combined Jewish Appeal", to me at the above address.Read automatically; may contain mistakes.
