Above image is a Star of David with the word 'Baumspende' (translation: tree donation) to its left and writing in Hebrew to the right. Images of tree branches on left and writing. On bottom half, Hebrew printed form filled in by hand. Issued by the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemet LeYisrael). Narrative: The donor, Meir (Gaby) Erman was born in Opatów, Poland. He was imprisoned in concentration camps during the Holocaust; he was transferred from a labour camp in Sandomierz to one in Starachowice, and from there to Auschwitz. In January 1945, he was sent on a death march to Mauthausen, where he was liberated. That same year, he ran the British Blockade and emigrated to Palestine, where he lived on a kibbutz until he was wounded in conflict in 1950. He moved to Canada and settled in Montreal.
