- Scope & content
- Item consists of page 39 of the Boyd photograph album. There are nine photographs on the page, which are captioned as follows: 12534 - Lieut. Col. Bick of the 37th Battalion, who pioneered the way for the big trek; 12537, 12538 - Apples in crates were placed by the roadside with the kindest intentions, but military discipline got a jolt when the regiments got an eye on the fruit that tempted Eve; 12539, 12540, 12542 - Transports of all kinds kept the troops supplied with everything that was needed, and at the proper time. That kind of service is demanded on all occasions, and has materially helped to make the British Army the best fed and equipped of any on earth; 12544, 12545, 12546 - The last rest on the march was in High Park, where after six days steady going, the boys admitted that their appetites had only just got in shape to act respectable. A fond feeling for such a change of food may have been the wish of some, but with the majority - Never.
