Hitherto we have enjoyed the opportunity to appear before you prior to holy and festive occasions. Due to the thoughtful and kindly consideration of the management of this station,we shall meet with you each Sunday Morning at this hour.At the outset, I desire to make reference to an important gathering underway in Montreal during this week-end. The Canadian Jewish Congress, which is representative of all Canadian Jewry,in convention assembled,is inaugurating the bicentennial year of Jewish settlement in Canada.1759 marks Jewish beginnings in Canada.Nine years later,in 1768, a Synagogue was established in the City of Montreal,known as the Spanish and Portuguese Congregation and of which I have the honor to serve as the present Rabbi.Incidentally,since first its doors were opened,there has been no interruption in religious services.Read automatically; may contain mistakes.
