Scope & content
Oval shaped, black felt front with a blue cotton back; sandwhiched in between is a piece of cardboard for stability. The edges are cut like a wave, with a small hole in each part. On the front is an embroidered floral design with a different name on each tag (see inscription). A ribbon is attached to each tie. Narrative: Embroidered by Esther Orenstein (donor's mother). Once a month, a laundress would come in to wash all the clothes. These ties were used to tie and label the bandles-sheets, shirts, etc. Esther and her husband Icek Cytrynbaum married in 1924; he immigrated to Canada in 1927 and she in 1930.
