Ottawa, April 21st 1916.My dear Jacobs,Yours very sincerely,Mr. S.W. Jacobs K.C.83 Craig Street West,Montreal, P.Q.I write to know if you would consent to act as counsel for Kyte and for the opposition before the Meredith-Duff Commission. You would be associated with F.B. Carvell and perhaps another counsel, who has not yet been retained, and may not be at all.I would want you to understand, however, that it must be largely for the good of the cause, for the remuneration which we can offer you could not be on the ordinary professional terms, as your client, the Opposition in the House of Commons, is not able to pay you for the value of your services.Would you kindly let me have your answer by wire to-morrow.Believe me ever,Read automatically; may contain mistakes.
