635 Grosvenor Avenue WestmounDecember 21st 1941635 Grosvenor Avenue WestmountDear Joe:- We cabled you to day acknowledging receipt of yourswell fifteen page letter written nearly a month ago afteryour lively visit to Midfield (drunkenorgies) You stillcontinue to improve in your letter writing there is clarity andeconomy in the use of words which pleases me as an Author verymuch. just because one of my letters was skimpy you praise yourMa's letters to the skies forgetting all the long letters Iwrote to you in October and later in November. I believe it isone of your usual deeply laid plots to make us vie with eachother for the credit of writing the best and longest lettersfrom home. You put me on my mettle. Bye the way I gave Montya swell new pair of sports trousers which I presume he did notdeliver to you otherwise I would have heard. Joking of courseserve as a model for a new pair to be sent to you via Geraldif they fit alright. Have sent you tobacco also papers fairlyregularily. It may amuse you to know that when I use to write toI usee to divide my letters into sections...Family...Personal..Business ...Social etc. You are doing the very same thing withsome of your letters. I will continue to do without fear of beingaccused of plagiarism. And I am going to go you one better byusing red for my captions ......FAMILY.One hour ago your sister Janet left for New York. Shelooked quite a glamour girl and was very happy and pretty.went out to dinner and dancing with Bernard Fisher. Looks freshthis morning.I am quite pleased about it because she has nocompulsion to continue the job but took on a obligation and isdetermined to see it through. It looks as if we built ina fair good constitution into you kids. Your Ma certainly doestake a wretched picture but she really looks fine and slender(not too slender) and young looking. Someday I may be ableto get a good picture of her.As for myself I never felt betterand some there are who say I look like you or you look like me.One morning Henrietta Asch dropped in I was sitting in theeasy chair. She said she got quite a start as she thought it wasyou.I have thirty three houses under my jurisdiction and amdistrict warden. I also am getting along on my first aidd I willAs for the play No Time for Pity it went over with a bangI had locals calls and one long distance calls all the week, from Sunday to the following Saturday. It was stated (how trueme about his past life.Read automatically; may contain mistakes.
