PLATEAU 4541Dear Sir:We have written to you on October 10th and have omitted to inform you that we have done so at the request of Mr. P. M. Draper, the President of The Trades & Labor Congress, who has given us your address and requested us to keep in touch with you regarding the boycott work against Nazi Germany. We will consider it a favor if you will confirm the receipt of our letter and enclosures, and inform us whether you have taken any action in the matter. We take it for granted that you are acquainted with the agitation of all liberal forces in this country to prevent our Government from subsidizing the Canadian Olympic teams. The enclosed statement issued by The Unity and Goodwill Association, speaks for itself. We request that you endeavour to prevent the leading Canadian sportsmen in your community from participating in the Olympics, which will be held in Germany in 1936, and write to this effect to the Canadian Government, and also influence your local press for an editorial opinion against sending Canadian teams to the Olympiad. We will appreciate it if you will obtain a written statement, in newspaper style, against Canada's participation in the Olympic Games, from the Head of your Council, giving us at the same time some facts about his activities and any sports qualifications he may have. We would also be thankful if you would send us a half column mat of him. The written opinion if mailed to us at once will be submitted for publication to all sports editors in Canada.Trusting to hear from you by return mail, and thanking you for your cooperation, I am,Eastern DivisionMR.
