- Letter: regarding case of [name of Golden Lake Band member], whose furs were seized by Quebec Game Warden while hunting in Grand Lake Victoria Hunting Preserve. Referring to letter of March 8 and statement that IAB gave agent advice to encourage Golden Lake Indians to hunt in G.L.V. Preserve and writing that "[W]e have no record on our files of ever having sent you a map or having given you advice to encourage the Indians to hunt and trap in the Grand Lake Victoria Reserve. If such advice was given to you, it must have been given under a misapprehension. and I shall be glad if you will forward me a copy of this communication and the date upon which it was written." Quoting letter of Nov. 18, 1933, authorizing agent to give certificates of identification to members of Golden Lake Band but cautioning that these do not give permission to Indians to hunt in Quebec, and that if too many band members cross the boundary to hunt, the Quebec authorities may revoke any privileges. Also stating that "if the Indians of Golden Lake go to the Province of Quebec to hunt and trap, they do so at their own risk. It was not the intention in the letter above quoted to encourage the Indians to hunt in the Grand Lake Victoria Reserve. Indicating that area reserved for use of Abitibi Indians and that G.L.V. Preserve set aside for Grand Lake Victoria Indians, and no others.
