- Scope & content
- Letter: acknowledging letter of 23 May regarding complaint made by Oka Indians concerning the fencing of the channel between two islands on the Ottawa River, at Lake of Two Mountains. Stating that Chief Engineer has looked into complaint and he reports, among other things, that the islands are included as part of the bird sanctuary authorized by O.C. of April 10, 1931. Notes that present owners have deeds covering seven islands originally obtained from the King of France. Concluding that it would be difficult to prove that the fencing obstructs navigation and does not recommend action under the Navigable Waters Protection Act.
