Scope & content: Letter: respondirlg to enquiry in relation to ownership to islands in the Ottawa River in the flrst concession of the Township of Hawkesbury. Advises that the islands do not belong to the Indians. States that in May 1861, the Province of Canada issued a patent covering eight islands in front of Lots 9-12 in the Township of West Hawkesbury. Names the islands and tells how many acres each contains.
