Scope & content
Letter: re theirs of the 2nd. Responds that the Department is not aware of any treaty having been entered into with the Indians of Quebec whereby these Indians have conceded to them the right to hunt irrespective of the Game Laws. In relation to the Robinson-Huron Treaty, states that the Province of Ontario contends that the only case in which Indians have superior privileges is with regard to hunting on their reserves, hunting grounds or territory specially set apart for the purpose. Advises that a test case was brought before the Court of Appeal in early 1910 but has not yet been heard.
