Its images and links won't load until it's back. Panarchive shows each image straight from the archive's own website, so when that site is down the picture can't be shown here. Nothing is lost: everything returns once the archive is back up, and we check every few minutes.

- Letter: acknowledging his of August 11th. 1835 and Napier's response the following Sept 3. Advises that the Algonquin and Nipissing of the Lake of the Two Mountains have decided to remove to the Grand Calumet Portage on the Ottawa River. Rerurns the Petition of these Tribes, dated June 6., 1835 and reminds Givens of the content of the 1763 Royal Proclamation stating that the Indians are not to be deprived of the lands claimed by them unless they are so disposed to sell them. He states that in spite of this, extensive grants have been made of Algonquin and Nipissing lands without compensation. Points out that in all other cases, government has purchased required lands from Indians. Also commends the Algonquins and Nipissings for their service in the war and informs him that a certified copy of the Royal Proclamation is lodged at this office and if Givens desires to refer to it. he would be happy to transmit it to him.
