- Scope & content
- Letter: advising of proceedings with the Mississaugas at Carleton Island. States that the Mississaugas are objecting to a number of the Six Nations who intend settling in the area of Cataraqui as they fear they will overrun their hunting grounds. Mississaugas have no objection to white people settling in the area. Johnson recommends purchasing some of their land including the Islands from the Bay of Kenty (Quinte) downwards for the use of the Mohawks and Loyalists who may wish to establish themselves on that side of the lake.
